RIPLEY — The Lincoln County cross country team recently competed in one of their final events of the 2021 regular season as on Saturday, Sept. 25 the Panthers ran in the popular Ripley Covered Bridge Invitational. at Cedar Lakes.
Senior runner Jackson Sanders was the top finisher for LCHS as he ran the 3.1 mile course in a final time of 18:41.91 good for 30th overall out of 196 runners.
Freshman Derek Adkins was the next to finish as he cracked the top 100 with a time of 21:29.28 while senior Ayden McClung followed him with a final time of 22:53.95.
Jason Long was right on McClung’s heels as he finished five seconds later with a time of 22:58.94, freshman Bobby Lucas posted a final time of 27:34.85, while sophomore Josiah Teter ran a time of 29:06.41.
On the girls side, senior Audrey Vance ran the course in a time of 33:15.39.
The Panthers will now have nearly a month off from competing as they train for the upcoming Class AAA Regionals which will be held on Oct. 21 at the same course on Cedar Lakes in Ripley.
The state meet is Saturday, Oct. 30th at Cabell Midland High School.
